Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has a huge list of benefits and uses, some might really surprise you!  From lowering blood sugar levels, aiding in weight loss, combating acid reflux to detoxing your liver, you might want to give some of these a try!

Soothes a Sore Throat

Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties can help soothe sore throats.  Mix with warm water and gargle a few times a day.

Lower Blood Sugar Levels

The acetic acid in vinegar may lower blood sugar by preventing the complete digestion of complex carbohydrates.  Vinegar may inactivate some of the digestive enzymes that break down carbs into sugar.  This slows the conversion of complex carbs into sugar from a meal into your bloodstream, giving your body more time to pull sugar out of your blood, preventing your sugar levels from spiking.

Aiding in Weight Loss

Vinegar may help you lose weight, by increasing satiety and reducing the total amount of food consumed.

Combat Acid Reflux

Improve the acid content of your stomach (acid reflux is caused by a lack of acid in your stomach) by taking one tablespoon of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar in a large glass of water once daily. Apple cider vinegar stimulates digestive juices that help the body break down food, and contains healthy acids like isobutryic, acetic, and lactic acid that can control the growth of unwanted yeast and bacteria in your stomach and throughout your body.

Clearing your Sinuses

Apple cider vinegar breaks down mucous in your body, which helps to clears your sinuses.

Liver Detoxification

Apple cider vinegar has healing properties that can affect the skin and blood, and can eliminate harmful environmental toxins in your body.

Apple Cider Vinegar Uses Around Your Home

Kill Weeds

Vinegar is a very effective herbicide that can help control weeds in your garden.  Mix with orange oil and liquid soap and spray directly (and only) on the weeds you want to kill.

Wash and Clean Fruits and Vegetables

Apple cider vinegar helps remove pesticides and bacteria from your fruits and vegetables. Mix vinegar with water and dip them, then rinse.  I would not use them on berries, the solution might be a little too harsh.

Polishing Silver, Brass, Copper and Bronze

Apple cider vinegar can be used to polish several different metals. To polish silver, mix half a cup of vinegar with 2 tablespoons baking soda. Soak the silver for a few hours and then rinse thoroughly.

To polish brass, copper and bronze, make a paste of equal parts salt and vinegar, and then rub away the tarnish. Rinse with cold water and dry.

Beauty Uses for Apple Cider Vinegar

Treat Dandruff

Apple cider vinegar helps balance your scalp’s pH level. To effectively treat dandruff weekly, mix half water and half vinegar and spay on your scalp.  Cover with a bowl for 1 hour, then wash hair as normal.

Toner and Aftershave

Apple cider vinegar mixed with a little warm water helps to cleanse your face and help prevent breakouts. Use on a cotton pad as an astringent. You can also use as an aftershave.

Foot Odor and Body Odor

Apple cider vinegar can help to eliminate odor-causing bacteria and smells from your feet.

Please note: If you're considering taking apple cider vinegar medicinally,
long-term excessive use could conceivably cause low potassium levels and can adversely affect your bone density.  Apple cider vinegar could  interact with
diuretics, laxatives, and medicines for diabetes and heart disease. Talk to your
physician before starting any regimen to make sure it won’t interfere with any
medications you might be taking.

You shall serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you.
