🔪 How to Make Keto Bang Bang Chicken
Prepare the Bang Bang Sauce according to the directions, then set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
Add the almond flour, parmesan cheese, pork panko, smoked paprika, salt and ground black pepper into a shallow mixing bowl. Add the eggs into another shallow bowl and beat.
Take each chicken tender and dip it into the egg, allowing any excess to drip off.
Dip the chicken tender into the breading mixture.
Set them on a plate, while you prepare the remaining chicken tenders.
Heat a large skillet to medium and add in the olive oil. How much oil you decide to use is entirely up to you. You can do a shallow fry or traditional fry, either way will work.
Fry the tenders in batches, making sure not to crowd the pan, until they reach an internal temperature of at least 165°F, when checked with a meat thermometer. As the tenders are fried, allow any excess oil to drain on paper towels.
When ready to serve, drizzle some of the Bang Bang Sauce over the tops, and serve the remaining sauce on the side for dipping.
☑️ Storage Instruction
Fridge: Store cooked and cooled chicken tenders in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer so the coating gets crisp again.
Freezer: Freeze cooked tenders in a single layer on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag once solid. They’ll keep up to 2 months. Reheat straight from frozen in the oven or air fryer until hot and crispy.
🍴 What to Serve with Bang Bang Chicken Strips
These are some of my favorite pairings to make with Bang Bang Chicken:
- Bang Bang Cauliflower
- Coconut Cauliflower Rice
- Bang Bang Coleslaw
- Lime Cilantro Cauliflower Rice
- Thai Cucumber Salad
- Lime Cilantro Broccoli Slaw
💡 Tips
- To make sure they’re done, use a thermometer to ensure they hit 165°F.
- Don’t overcrowd the skillet or they won’t crisp properly. Fry in smaller batches.
- Let the breaded chicken sit for 5 minutes before frying to help the coating stick.
- Keep your oil around medium heat for even browning without burning.
- Drain fried tenders on a wire rack over paper towels to keep them extra crisp.
- Give the sauce a few minutes to rest before serving so the flavors blend together.
🔄 Substitutions and Additions
- Chicken: Use chicken breast cut into strips or even into nuggets if you don’t have chicken tenders on hand.
- Heat: Add a pinch of cayenne to the breading mix for extra heat.
- Air fryer: Try an air fryer version by spraying the breaded tenders with oil and cooking at 390°F until golden.
- Garnish: Add sesame seeds or sliced green onions on top for a restaurant-style finish.
Can I Bake These Instead of Frying?
Sure, just bake at 400°F on a greased sheet pan for about 20 minutes, flipping once.
Why Did My Breading Fall Off While Frying?
Make sure the tenders are patted dry before coating and let the breading rest before frying.
How Can I Make the Sauce Less Spicy?
You can. Just cut the sriracha in half and add more mayo for a milder version.
Can I Make The Sauce Ahead of Time?
You definitely can because it actually gets better after sitting for a few hours in the fridge.
