Is Cod Fish Good for Keto? Is Cod Low in Carbohydrates?

Cod, like most fish, is a great super low carb food which makes it perfect for Keto. In fact, the majority of any carbs that are in cod recipes, comes from whatever you cook it in, like seasonings and sauces.

    Is Baked Cod Healthy?

It sure is! Cod is packed with vitamins and minerals that are associated with a number of health benefits. You can read about in this article on Healthline. Because it’s high in protein but low in calories, fat, and carbs you can enjoy it guilt-free on most any diet.

What is the Best Way to Cook a Piece of Cod?

One of the wonderful things about this flaky white fish is that you can easily cook it many tasty ways. The four most popular ways to prepare cod is poached, pan-seared or fried, broiled and baked.

Regardless of the method you prefer, to keep it healthy and low carb, you'll want to use clean ingredients to prepare it. Homemade seasonings like this Blackened Seasoning and Cajun Seasoning are always great with the flavors of Cod and because you control the ingredients, you'll know they're sugar-free and Keto-friendly.

What Does Cod Fish Taste Like?

Cod has a really mild and slightly sweet flavor. Because it contains less fat than other types of fish like salmon, sardines and tuna, you’ll want to pair it with flavorful sauces, or in the case of this baked cod recipe, a super fresh and tangy Greek salsa.

How Do You Cook Cod Fish in the Oven?

By far, my favorite way to prepare cod is baked in the oven. It takes very little prep work and only a few minutes cooking time to have dinner on the table. But there are a few tips you should follow to make sure it turns out perfect every single time.

What Temperature Should Cod be Cooked at?

Completely thawed cod fillets are best cooked in a preheated 400°F oven.

How Long Should You Cook Cod in the Oven?

This will vary based on the size of the pieces of fish you're cooking. For the average, pre-cut sized fillets you most often see in the grocery store, you'll cook them for about 10 minutes. But if your oven tends to cook a little hotter than most, start checking them for doneness after about 8 minutes.

How to Tell When Baked Cod is Done

To prevent any type of foodborne illness, the USDA recommends you cook fish until it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F when checked with an instant read thermometer, in the thickest part of the fillet.
