I used my Power Air Fryer Oven (with the racks) to make mine, but you can use any air fryer you have. What I love about the Air Fryer Oven is that you never have to flip the wings, because the air circulates around them perfectly!
You don’t need to use any oil or baking powder to get them crispy! These are honestly the easiest way to make chicken wings. No oil splattering everywhere or nightmare cleanup! I even line the bottom tray with foil, so I can just toss it away when I’m done!
The key to getting these wings to crisp up, is to make sure they are completely dry before you bake them. I’m talking paper towel press and squeeze them dry! They will stay moist and juicy inside, but have a nice crispy skin!
These wings are so versatile, you could also make them with the seasonings of your choice and leave off the buffalo sauce if you’d like. Once they are ready, I toss them in my Homemade Buffalo Wing Sauce and serve with celery sticks and my homemade Blue Cheese Dressing on the side!

How to Make Keto Chicken Wings
Cut each chicken wing into 3 separate pieces, discarding the wing tips and keeping only the drummettes and flats.
Spray each rack with non-stick spray, I used olive oil spray and placed the wings on them. Optional: sprinkle garlic salt and pepper over the tops.
Make sure there is plenty of space between each wing, to allow the air to circulate properly.
Bake at 400F for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden and crisp!
While they are still hot, toss in the buffalo wing sauce and serve!
As with classic buffalo wings, I like to serve mine with some celery sticks and blue cheese dressing for dipping!
Are Buffalo Chicken Wings Keto?
They certainly are! In fact dark meat chicken with the skins on is preferred to a boneless, skinless chicken breast, because of the healthy fat content! Don’t get me wrong, I use chicken breasts in many of my recipes, but it doesn’t have as much fat, which makes them perfect for casseroles that have added sauces and other sources of healthy fat.
If you make your own buffalo wing sauce to toss them in, you can make sure that you’re not missing any hidden carbs that might come in some bottled sauces. So if you choose to purchase a pre-made wing sauce, just be sure to check the ingredients and nutrition label!
Can You Bake Keto Chicken Wings in a Regular Oven?
Definitely! But I recommending baking them on a baking sheet that has a wire rack. This will help allow air to circulate around the wings so they can crisp up. Bake them @ 400F for about 40-45 minutes and flip them half way through cooking.
Tips for the Best Keto Buffalo Wings
The Sauces
While there are certainly some great Keto friendly sauces available, I honestly prefer to make my own when I can. To make my Buffalo Wing Sauce I use Frank’s Hot Sauce, melted butter, Worcestershire and cayenne pepper.
You can omit the cayenne pepper to make a milder sauce. Takes about 2 minutes to make and it’s done! Easy peasy!
For the dipping sauce, I go traditional with a Blue Cheese Dressing, that I also make myself. It has a few more ingredients than my wing sauce, but it’s incredibly easy to make and tastes delicious!
And as I mentioned earlier, you can skip the sauces all together and just season the wings before you bake them. For example, you can use my Cajun Seasoning and make cajun wings! You can dip them in Homemade Ranch Dressing (or even use store bought) to cool them down a bit.
Leftovers
You can easily reheat these in your air fryer or oven, but I do recommend if you are intentionally making extra to have leftovers for later, I’d hold off on tossing them in the buffalo wing sauce if you can.
Then, when you go to reheat them, they can crisp back up nicely, as they were when you first made them. Toss them in the sauce and you are golden!
Special Equipment
The air fryer that I used is my Power Air Fryer Oven and I LOVE it! It has 3 racks that will fit a good amount of food them them! But, it also comes with skewers, fry basket (great for nuts) and a rotisserie rack that rotates!
I’ve tried other air fryers before and this one is hands down my very favorite! I use it to make my Baked Zucchini Fries with a zesty dipping sauce. DELISH!!
While you can certainly use just about any air fryer that you have, I highly recommend this one! If you use the type that has the basket, I would pull the wings out midway through the cooking and give them a shake/flip.
I also use these silicone mitts for removing the racks while they are hot. They’re nice and slim, so you can easily fit your hand in there to retrieve the racks. I absolutely love them!
