❤️ Why You'll Love This Balsamic Vinegar Dressing
- Rich and delicious balsamic flavor
- Smooth and creamy texture
- Easy to make with a handful of ingredients
- Ready in under 5 minutes
- No added sugar
I've always loved balsamic vinegar. But, store-bought balsamic dressings are loaded with sugar and just can't compare in flavor with homemade.
If you've started Keto, and you're missing the flavors of balsamic salad dressing, but don't really want the carbs that come from the added sugars, try this Keto dressing recipe!
It uses equal parts balsamic and white wine vinegar in this dressing. It still has that classic balsamic dressing flavor, but with much fewer carbs! And by using a bullet blender to emulsify it, you get that perfect creamy texture that won't separate.
Making your own low carb salad dressing is so easy and the best part is you control the ingredients used, preventing added sugars and preservatives! If you enjoy vinaigrette dressings, also be sure to try this Lemon Vinaigrette, Chipotle Lime Vinaigrette or my Raspberry Vinaigrette.

🔪 How to Make Low Carb Balsamic Vinaigrette
Add all the ingredients to the cup of a bullet or immersion blender.
Mix for about a minute until slightly thickened and emulsified.
The dressing will thicken as it chills.
Serve over your favorite salad.
💡 Tips for Making Balsamic Vinaigrette
- I find it easier to make in a bullet blender or immersion blender because the dressing emulsifies quickly. If you don't have either, you can use a whisk instead. Add all the ingredients, except for the olive oil to a mixing bowl, then slowly whisk in the olive oil and continue mixing until thickened.
- Be sure to grate your garlic, so you don't have chunks of raw garlic to bite into.
- Use a good quality balsamic dressing, since it's the star ingredient.
- If you don't like a hint of sweetness in your dressing, you can certainly omit the sweetener, but I find it really helps offset the tanginess of the vinegar quite nicely.
- Olive oil is my oil of choice for this recipe, but if you happen to be out, you can substitute with light olive oil or avocado oil instead.
- If you don't care for Dijon mustard, you might be tempted to omit it. Don't do it! You will not taste the mustard, but it really helps to emulsify the dressing, so it's important to include it.
☑️ Storage Instructions
Store leftover Keto salad dressing in an airtight jar for up to a week in the fridge. After it has chilled, it may partially solidify. When you're ready to serve it, just give it a good shake and the ingredients will come back together.

What is Balsamic Made From?
According to this article on Healthline: "Balsamic vinegar is a deep brown vinegar that’s made from unfermented grape juice. It’s known for having distinctive, bold, complex flavors and a tart aftertaste. Real balsamic vinegar is aged in barrels for months or even years. It’s been suggested that balsamic vinegar can contribute to weight loss, low cholesterol, and even a glowing complexion."
Originating in Italy, the mouthwatering complex flavors make a delicious salad dressing or marinade.
Is Balsamic OK for Keto?
Balsamic vinegar contains sugar, even though it's all natural sugar from the fruit, it can cause the carbs to be too high for Keto or low carb diets. It's for this reason, I cut the balsamic with 1:1 parts white wine vinegar. With this substitution, you can enjoy Balsamic Salad dressing on Keto without guilt.
How Many Carbs in Balsamic Dressing?
This recipe only has 2 net carbs per serving. That's comparable to most all low carb salad dressings.
